In a bid for a political settlement in Zimbabwe, a petition to the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Organ on Politics, Defense, and Security, was started on 31 August by Tony Reeler and Ibbo Mandaza.

The petition started after the just-ended Zimbabwean election once again failed the test of credibility.

By last Friday the 1st of September 2023, approximately 5 807 people had signed.

Trevor Ncube had taken to Twitter, to encourage citizens to sign the petition as Zimbabwe “can not go on the way it is now”.

“l have just signed this petition. It is getting traction. Zimbabwe we can’t go on like this!”, said Ncube.

He added:

“We call for International Mediation Towards a Comprehensive Political Settlement in Zimbabwe!”.

In response to what Ncube had said, Forward Revolution @JamaLink said :

“We want guns even without training now, it’s the time”.

Freelance journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono added his voice as well on his Twitter handle, Hopewell Chin’ono@ Daddy hope Twitter:

“President Mnangagwa and ZANU-PF will carry the burden of a shambolic election for the next 5 years after CCC decided not to file an application challenging their electoral loot and its disastrous outcome.

“ZANU-PF was desperate for a court case to cleanse the crime scene which included a dead opposition supporter, FAZ intimidating voters by taking down their names and ID numbers, 12-hour delays to open polling stations, unconstitutional delimitation, banned rallies, and more”.

He concluded by saying :

“That cleansing moment ain’t coming! President Mnangagwa and ZANU-PF will continue with the inauguration on Monday”.

Meanwhile, two principal members of the SADC have endorsed President Mnangagwa’s victory in last week’s harmonized elections and have since pledged to continue working with the Second Republic.
