Twitter boss Elon Musk has appointed a woman to take over as the new Chief Executive Officer for the giant social instant messaging media platform, Twitter.
This comes after the billionaire made promises of stepping down from the leading role from the company he bought for US$44 billion.
Musk made the revelations on his twitter handle @elonmusk this past Friday where he expressed his delight in roping in the new boss to the fold.
“I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter! she will focus on business operations while I focus on product and new technology.”Musk said in a statement.
Last year in December the richest man on the planet created a poll on Twitter where he asked users if he should step down as the CEO (Twitter) and most people voted for him to do so and he then made a promise to respect the poll results.
Yaccarino is not new in the media and technology world, having worked for Turner Entertainment for 15 years becoming a vice executive president and chief operating officer of an advertisement sales. She then joined NBCUniversal in October 2011 and she held the reigns as the Chairpeson. She has been at the company for more that a decade (11 years).
The former NBCUniversal boss earlier publicly announced leaving her role at the company in a statement.
“It has been an absolute honor to be part of Comcast NBCUniversal and lead the most incredible team.” She said in a statement Friday.
Yaccarino comes at a time the giant tech company hinted in reforms such as adding voice call on the social media platform.
