NGEZI Platinum held host’s Bulawayo Chiefs at Luveve Stadium this past Saturday under hot temperatures in Bulawayo.

The first half of the match provided less entertainment, the fans sitting at the stands gave an audible disappointment. Both teams showed no signs of physical and mental strength that is needed to win the opening match of the season.

Despite having home advantage, in the entire first half,Bulawayo Chiefs failed to create enough chances. But coming into the second half, the Ninjas came all guns blazing as the combination of Farau Matare and Nkosilathi Ncube began to click. From it came the goal that came in the 56th minute. The goal created a bit of momentum and re- energized Sweswe’s men and the home fans.

However, the visitors who kept on fighting for a comeback thought otherwise and turned the tide around with less than 20 minutes to go. Their goal came through a free kick from Qadr Amini who stood up, and took the responsibility which he stroke with pure precision.

This late goal earned Ngezi Platinum a precious one point on the road, with Amakhosi Amahle sulking after they threw away points. However their gaffer Lizwe Sweswe left the match proud and believes his charges will get into the winning rhythm and prove their mantle very soon.

“Its a new team and the boy’s stamped their authority…the team is coming up, give us two- three games we will be cruising. Ngezi Platinum were a strong opponent today but the entire team did their level best and lam happy about that.” He said.

After sharing the spoils, Amakhosi Amahle fans are yet to celebrate a victory.
