BULAWAYO Chiefs Football Club say they are ready to kick-off their 2023 Castle Larger Premiere Soccer League (PSL) season when they take on Ngezi Platinum at Luveve Stadium on Saturday.

All seemed to be lost at the end of 2022 for the Ninjas as their financial troubles hogged the limelight overshadowing the fact that they finished in a respectable position last term. Many high profile players and coaches dumped them but under new Head Coach Lizwe Sweswe, the Twitter Kings appear.

Speaking to Zim GBC News, Sweswe said judging by last week’s results the players are prepared for tomorrow’s match.

“We are 90% prepared, the only challenge we faced is that l arrived late at the club but so far so good. Looking at our previous game (Castle Challenge Cup), the players conducted themselves exceptionally well considering its a new assembled team. There were so many positives which we can apply in tomorrows match.” Said Lizwe Sweswe.

The Bulawayo outfit lost to the PSL Champions FC Platinum at Mandava Stadium. The goals came from Panashe Mutimbanyoka and Jarrison Selemani.

“The first game is very important for us and it will give the players confidence going forward, what is needed in a team is confidence and believing in each other which will drive us to go on the next game.”

Sweswe came in and brought in seasoned and experienced players to steady the Ninjas’ ship. He roped in Talen Vision product and fan favourite Ayanda “Mzambia” Ncube. Upfront, Amakhosi Amahle signed a player with the eye for the goal Stanson Khanye. He finished the Division One 2021-22 season as the top scorer with nineteen goals.

In the 2023 PSL season, Sweswe will also have the pleasure of working with his prodigy from Tsholotsho FC, William Stima. The Ninjas have also earned the signature of experienced Danny ‘Deco’ Phiri, the former Chicken Inn captain. Amakhosi Amahle head coach told this publication, that like a Phoenix, Bulawayo Chiefs will rise from the ashes, never-mind that they lost key players.

“The new players are fitting in well with the entire squad. The current squad we have will surely do business for Bulawayo Chiefs. We owe our fans a victory, so tomorrow is the day.”

The club however managed to retain players such as Malvin Mkolo, Billy Veremu, Mthokosisi Msebe, Obriel Chirinda, Ben Nyahunzwi, Mandlenkosi Gasela, Felix Moyo, Malvern Hativagone, Panashe Shoko and Thomas Mudzegerere.
