IN an effort to boost and grow the image of archery in the country, the Zimbabwe Archery Association (ZAA) will this weekend conduct a clean up campaign exercise at Courteney Selous Primary School, Harare to clean up the shooting range.
The Harare Archery Clean-Up Day comes after the association held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) where the initiative to improve the shooting range at Courteney Selous Primary School was proposed. The initiative is a drive to make the facility ready to host the Harare Championships and the Nationals later this year.
The exercise will involve picking up of litter, rocks, cutting the grass, repairing targets amongst other activities.
“The just ended AGM was such a productive meeting of eager minds ready to grow archery. As one of the initiatives proposed, this Sunday we will be hosting a Clean Up Day in an effort to improve the range at Courteney Selous Primary School.” Said Iona Alexandra Bartosz, the Zimbabwe Archery Association president.
The association is also appealing for volunteers and encouraged its fraternity to bring in their family members to come through and assist.
“All members are encouraged to bring their families, gardeners (if available), and equipment to help during the cleanup. Food will be provided at the end of the clean-up.” Added Bartosz.
The entire weekend was scheduled to record the ranking shooting scores. The ranking will now take place only on Saturday only.
“On Saturday we will have our normal shooting combining it with the ranking round to gauge the athletes progress and levels. The participants will then receive prizes and archers from Bulawayo and other provinces will join. The scores will then be tallied on Sunday.” She said.
