MOTOCROSS RIDERS READY FOR 2023 SEASON

The Donnybrook Park Raceway in Harare which is a ceremonial home of motorsport in Zimbabwe comes alive this weekend when some of the junior and senior motocross riders participate in the opening round of the 2023 iconic Bogwheelers Club National Championship Series.

The Bogwheelers Club run the motocross in Zimbabwe and on Sunday, they will be hosting the opening round of the National Championship Series which is expected to attract a lot of people at Donnybrook Raceway.

This National Championship consists of six rounds spread all over the year and the final round is going to take place in November 2023.

The 2022 125cc Class National Champion, Emanuel Bako is going to be absent on the opening day of the Series as he is currently in England where he is expected to take part in the Ashbrook Hawkstone International Championship on Sunday.

“Bako will be missed during Sunday’s opening round of this year’s National Championship Series,” said Dougie Mellor, who is one of the country’s seasoned motocross riders.

Emanuel Bako, a sixteen year old is a Form Four student at Saint John’s College in Harare, he flew to England on Tuesday to part in an event that usually brings together some of the best dirt bike riders in the world.

The 2022 champion is expected to come back in Zimbabwe before the beginning of the second round.

“It is ony the first round of the Series this Sunday at Donnybrook. We are hoping for a good turn on the opening day,” added Mallor.

On the opening day, all the riders are expected to compete in all classes from the PeeWees, which is designed for both the juniors and seniors.

“We also hope to have a successful event and we are urging all the motocross fans to come in numbers and fill up the Raceway to witness what is going to be a fun-filled and enjoyable day on Sunday,”said Mallor.

Racing on Sunday will start at nine o’clock in the morning and entrance fees for the spectators have been pegged at US$5 per person and there will be full bar and catering.
