The City of Bulawayo in partnership with the Catholic Organisation for Development Aid (CORDAID) is set to hold city-wide Periodic Intensification of Routine Immunisation (PIRI), for all vaccines targeting all children from zero to five years.

The campaign will be conducted in three rounds every month at all the Municipal clinics, central hospitals, and private facilities.

The medications in supply will be BCG, hepatitis B, pentavalent 1 and 2, oral polio vaccine (OPV) 1 and 2, pneumococcal, diphtheria-tetanus, and pertussis (DTP), rotavirus 1 and 2, typhoid vaccine and measles-rubella.

“Due and overdue vaccines will be administered to the children following the schedule. Catch-up doses will be given to children who have missed their vaccination to prevent outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases among those under five. The aim is to reduce the likelihood of such outbreaks occurring in the City of Bulawayo.”, said Bulawayo town clerk Christopher Dube in an issued statement.

The first round started on the 30th of January 2023 and will end on the 3rd of February 2023. The second round will occur at the end of February and the third at the end of March 2023.
