A Bulawayo based up and coming music producer Andile Dube has asserted that Music is an experiment to him.

The multi- genre producer uses his talent to experiment on musical genres by mixing and creating fusions.

“I try to come up with feelings more than genres so I usually make mashups of genres. I can make Hip-hop, Electronic Dance Music and Afro-pop beats” , said Dube.

In an interview with ZIM GBC NEWS, Dube highlighted that the relationship he has with most artists is a no strings attached.

“I sell beats to artists and never really follow up but I have developed relationships with some, usually the newbie artists. These include artists like Snow, Vidho Mf, Lil Chris, Nomfundiso and many others”

He added that he prefers new artists who are just starting because with them, there is that creative freedom, room to experiment with different sounds and styles, over the established ones who have found their niche.

Dube says he started making beats in 2014 and believes he was not really good at it. He told ZIM GBC NEWS that he only became confident in his talent in 2018.

When asked what inspired him to start producing beats he said:

“I’m naturally a curious person so I always wondered how music was made. The main inspiration that kicked everything off came from one of my brother’s friends. He invited me over to his church where he was playing drums for the Praise and Worship with no actual drums. So afterwards he introduced me to this application that I later came to know as Fl studio. I started pressing here and there and overtime I could produce a decent sounding beat”.

He added that further inspiration came from consuming the works of local producers such as Mkbeats, Murphy Cubic, AyKay, Fish Ndaramu and Innora.

“For 2023 I have recently linked up with an artist popularly known as LAB via the Hip -Hop Power sessions. I hope a lot will come off it ahead of the production of his extended play (EP). I am also planning on doing a mini producer album before the year ends”, Dube concluded.
