The Zimbabwe National Organisation of Association and Residents Trust( ZINOART) Chairperson for Bulawayo Metropolitan Province, Ryan Mpofu has informed ZIM GBC NEWS that his organisation has sent an urgent application letter to the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works appealing for commissions of inquiry into the operations of Bulawayo City Council and that of Harare.
This comes after the state owned Herald newspaper published an article titled ‘Massive Harare land looting exposed’.
The Mayor Jacob Mafume, and Councillors Denford Ngadziore, Stanley Manyenga and Jason Kautsa are said to have received stands in some parts of Harare through a foul land devaluation scam.
“We need the Minister to set up an investigation into what is going on as you can see Councillors are abusing their privileges to enrich themselves”, said Ryan Mpofu.
“This is all about one’s consciousness when they campaigned. If a commission should be established to investigate issues to do with corruption, this should be thorough.”, added Mpofu.
The ZINOART Chairperson for Bulawayo also called on stakeholders that include the opposition parties; Movement for Democratic Change Alliance (MDC), Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC), ZANU-PF and the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works to come together and implement policies that will improve the livelihood of residents of all authorities.
