The Zimbabwe National Organisation of Association and Residents Trust Chairperson for Bulawayo Province Ryan Mpofu believes the current drive to clean up Bulawayo may be just an election gimmick for some of the stakeholders like Bulawayo City Council.
Speaking to ZIM GBC NEWS the ZNOART Chairperson accused the Mayor Solomon Mguni regime at the City Hall of failing in various sectors including water provision and sewer reticulation.
“He wants to hide behind a finger on water provision by shifting the blame on load shedding. Even if it was the case, the BCC owes rate payers alternatives”, Mpofu said.
Bulawayo is renowned for its cleanliness but in recent years uncontrolled litter has been a thorn in the flesh for the City Fathers.
“The fish rots from the head, Mayor Solomon Mguni is clutching at straws by suspending the wrong people. Where was he all along when the problem began?”,a fuming Ryan Mpofu said.
The 2023 proposed budget for the City of Bulawayo which was presented in October stated that Council will provide 24/7 provision of water, respond to water and sewer bursts.-
