Its back to school for old Pumula based junior football club Young Flying Stars. The ambitious Esilwane Youth Centre based football nursery plans to expand the number of youngsters that they produce annually by the end of the year 2023.
Young Flying Stars have over the years since their formation produced players that went on to shine in both semi- professional and proffesional league’s.
“We have produced many great players. Semi- professional league teams like Chicken Inn, Toronto and East Rovers have benefited from some of the products that have come out of our academy. Our marquee export is Liberty Chakoroma who plays for South African Second Division side, Sedibeng FC and previously played for Ngezi Platinum Star’s,” said Nqobile Nkala the Zimbabwe junior football league affiliated team’s coach.
Young Flying Stars was established in 2014 in which they made their debut in the ZIFA Bulawayo Junior League Pool B and where promoted into Serie A which is the Premier Division of youth soccer in the city of Bulawayo.
Nqobile Nkala who works closely with his associates Thembelani Moyo (Director) and his deputy Alfrend Moyo disclosed to Zim GBC News that the number of youngsters thronging their sessions is overwhelming. Though this development is straining YFSS (Pumula), no aspiring youngster will be turned away.
“Our club’s development policy is very strong, our record speaks for itself and
and now what we want is to play in Division 3 with the boys who represented the under- 17 last season. They believe in themselves and so do we, the likes of Prince Mparadzi, Andile Ncube, Sambulelo ncube and Blessing Moyo excelled last season.” Said Nkala
Just like any other club in the country operating under the current economic condition, Young Flying Stars is facing challenges. However those behind this project have vowed to keep it afloat against all odds.
