Zimbabwe to face Nigeria, Jamaica, and India in four-nation tournament at The Valley
The Zimbabwe national football team, the Warriors, will make history in May 2026 as they take part in the Unity Cup 2026 a four-nation international tournament hosted at The Valley in London from 26 to 30 May 2026.
The competition, which also features Nigeria, Jamaica, and India, marks the first time Zimbabwe will play in a tournament of this nature on English soil. For the Warriors, it represents a significant step forward in their ambition to compete regularly at high international levels.
Zimbabwe open their campaign against Nigeria in the first semi-final on 26 May, with kick-off set for 7.30pm. The second semi-final follows on 27 May, as Jamaica take on India at the same time. The winners will progress to the final on 30 May, while the losing sides will contest a third-place playoff.
The Valley, home of Charlton Athletic FC, previously hosted the Unity Cup in 2004. Since then, the event has evolved into a vibrant celebration of football, culture, and diaspora identity, drawing passionate support from communities across the United Kingdom.
ZIFA President Ngobile Magwizi described the tournament as a landmark moment for Zimbabwean football.
“The Unity Cup is a landmark moment for Zimbabwe football. It reflects our ambition to compete, grow and test ourselves at a high international level.”
Warriors Head Coach Marian Marinica welcomed the platform, stating:
“This is a strong platform for us as a team and an important chance to represent Zimbabwe with pride on an international stage.”
Captain Marvelous Nakamba, who will lead the squad in London, emphasised the significance of playing in front of the diaspora community.
“It is always an honour to represent Zimbabwe, and playing in London in front of our supporters in the diaspora makes this occasion even more special.”
ZIFA has encouraged Zimbabweans in the United Kingdom and beyond to rally behind the Warriors for what promises to be a memorable tournament.
