Kwekwe, Zimbabwe – The Premier Soccer League is set for a blockbuster weekend as ambitious newcomers Hardrock FC and Scottland FC prepare to face off at Chahwanda Stadium on Sunday. However, fans hoping to witness the highly anticipated clash will have to dig deeper into their pockets.

Hardrock FC has announced a significant hike in entrance fees for the match, more than tripling the usual gate charges. The rest of the ground, typically priced at US$3, has been raised to **US$10. The VIP section, which normally goes for US$5, will now cost **US$30, while the VVIP stand is set at a hefty US$50.

The match will be the debut fixture at the newly constructed Chahwanda Stadium in Kwekwe, a state-of-the-art 20,000-seater venue that is the only ground in the country fully furnished with bucket seats.

The inflated prices reflect the massive anticipation surrounding the encounter. Both clubs flexed their financial muscle during a busy pre-season transfer window, acquiring some of the best talent on the domestic market.

Hardrock FC secured the signature of Soccer Star of the Year Washington Navaya, alongside Donald Mudadi and Junior Makunike from Simba Bhora, as well as several foreign players. They also snapped up 2025 Chibuku Super Cup-winning coach Kelvin Kaindu from Dynamos.

Scottland FC was equally aggressive, bringing in Soccer Star of the Year finalist Abubakkar Moffat from rivals MWOS FC, second runner-up Emmanuel Ziocha, and four-time PSL title-winning coach Norman Mapeza from FC Platinum. They walk into Sunday’s clash brimming with confidence after a resounding 5-0 demolition of Dynamos in the Castle Challenge Cup over the weekend.

Scottland’s US$30 Million Vision

Off the pitch, Scottland FC is making headlines of their own with ambitious plans to build a permanent home. Club chairman Everson Chatambudza has announced a US$30 million project to construct a 20,000-seater CAF-certified stadium in Mabvuku.

“We are building the home of football, right where we were born,” Chatambudza declared during a function to unveil the club’s new kit and players.

The project aims to eliminate the need for renting venues and represents a landmark moment for domestic football.

In addition to the Mabvuku stadium, the club is developing training facilities in Ruwa, valued at US$15 million, to create “world-class training grounds where champions are made.” Combined with sponsorship commitments of US$10 million for the season, Scottland FC is on course for a valuation exceeding US$60 million and has already received 40 operational vehicles to support logistics.

Chatambudza also emphasized the club’s commitment to community development, noting that the Scottland Medical Centre treated over 70,000 patients free of charge last year.

“Football is not just about what happens on the pitch,” he said

“It is about the community that breathes life into the club. This is our Corporate Social Responsibility. This is our promise.”

With the stadium groundbreaking scheduled for mid-March, Sunday’s match at Chahwanda promises to be a tantalizing appetizer for what could be a transformative era in Zimbabwean football.
