TRAGEDY IN ILANDA: Pedestrian (20) Killed in Bulawayo Collision

BULAWAYO – A 20-year-old man from Binga died on the spot on Monday night after he was struck by a vehicle along 12th Avenue Extension in Ilanda, Bulawayo.

According to police reports, the incident occurred at around 7:30 PM on the 23rd of February 2026.

The victim has been identified as Anele Mudenda of Mabula Village, Binga.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Mudenda was crossing the road when he was hit by a silver Toyota Corolla traveling due west along the avenue. The driver of the vehicle is a 27-year-old male resident of Ilanda.

“The second party sustained head injuries and died on the spot,” confirmed Bulawayo Provincial Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Nomalanga Msebele.

“His body was conveyed to the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) mortuary.”

Inspector Msebele used the opportunity to urge all road users to prioritize safety.

“We urge all motorists to always exercise extreme caution and keep a proper lookout when driving to avoid the loss of lives,” she added.

Police are continuing their investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
