BULAWAYO – President Emmerson Mnangagwa has this morning arrived at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo to officially open the 2026 ZimTrade Exporters Conference and Awards.

The conference, being held under the theme “Rooted Locally, Growing Globally,” brings together policymakers, business leaders, and industry experts to deliberate on strategies for expanding Zimbabwe’s export footprint.

The event is a key fixture on the trade calendar, focusing on value addition and sustainable integration into global markets.

The conference, hosted by the national trade development and promotion organization, ZimTrade, serves as a high-level dialogue platform to align government policy with business execution.

It features sessions on navigating global value chains and adopting sustainable trade practices.

The focus on exports is buoyed by encouraging trade data from the previous year.

Zimbabwe recorded a 30% increase in exports, reaching US$9.7 billion in 2025, providing a strong foundation for the strategies being discussed at the event.

This Exporters Conference is a standalone event dedicated to trade policy, separate from the main Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) exhibition, which is scheduled to take place in April 2026.
