‎A 19-year-old Bulawayo man, Prince Dube, has appeared in court facing charges of unlawfully possessing a prohibited knife.

‎Court documents state that Dube was allegedly found on 14 February 2026 at the corner of Joshua Nkomo Street and Connaught Avenue in Bulawayo carrying a flick knife.

‎Prosecutors say he was aware that possessing such a weapon was illegal, placing him in violation of Section 39 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 923, which outlaws the possession of certain dangerous knives.

‎The State, represented by Cst Faith, told the court that the accused was apprehended at about 2:30 pm and taken into police custody soon after his arrest.

‎The court heard that the accused resides in Emakhandeni suburb and that there is no relationship between him and the complainant, as the case is being brought by the State.

‎The accused’s possession of the weapon is alleged to have been unlawful, leading to his formal charge. Under Zimbabwean law, prohibited knives such as flick knives are restricted because they are considered dangerous weapons often associated with violent crime.

‎The case is now before the Provincial Magistrate’s Court, where Dube is expected to return for further proceedings as the judicial process continues.
