Samsung is getting ready to unveil the Galaxy S26 at the end of this month. Just weeks before the big announcement, fresh details have emerged about the S26 Ultra, showing major improvements to both the selfie camera and battery life.

According to recent reports, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will keep a 12MP front camera, just like the current S25 Ultra. But there is a big difference under the surface.

The phone is expected to switch to a Sony sensor, moving away from the Samsung ISOCELL 3LU sensor used in the previous model.

Most other camera specs will stay the same, including the 1/3.2-inch sensor size, 1.12µm pixel size, and f/2.2 aperture.

However, users can look forward to a wider 85-degree field of view, which means better group selfies and more background in every shot.

The front camera cutout will be slightly larger than the one on the S25 Ultra, but this small change should bring better quality.

Features expected from the Galaxy S26 Ultra:

  • Camera: 200MP quad rear camera with larger aperture for better low-light photos
  • Front camera: 12MP with new Sony sensor and wider 85-degree view
  • Battery: 5,000mAh with wireless power sharing support
  • Processor: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
  • Display: Hole-punch cutout for the front camera

Thabang Moyo, a tech expert, shared his thoughts on the upcoming device.

“The Galaxy S26 Ultra is designed to have a bigger battery and better camera quality, these are the two things most users care about”, said Moyo.

Moyo also confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S26 series is on track for release at the end of this month.

With just weeks to go until the launch, people have plenty to look forward to. The combination of a new Sony sensor up front and a bigger battery inside could make the S26 Ultra one of the most complete phones of the year.
