HARARE – In a move seen by many as a direct response to intense public scrutiny, 17-year-old entrepreneur Tinotenda Tungwarara has announced the upcoming launch of her fashion label, Manhanha Clothing.

The announcement follows viral social media backlash over a reported US$8,000 one-day shopping spree, which led critics to mockingly coin the term “Manhanha jeans.”

Tinotenda, the daughter of Presidential Advisor Paul Tungwarara, is already a business owner with ventures including Tap and Go and Prevail Supermarket.

The launch of Manhanha Clothing refocuses attention on the Tungwarara family, which is simultaneously navigating political controversy.

Her father, Advisor Paul Tungwarara, struck a defiant tone at a public event in Nyanga South this weekend, addressing fallout from a previous speech widely interpreted as targeting wealthy individuals with political ambitions within the ruling party.

“I was in Marange last week, and I spoke what I spoke; and that did not go down well with some people with ambition. I did not mention anyone’s name, but I spoke about myself,” Tungwarara stated.

He acknowledged his comments “broke the internet” and led to widespread speculation.

In a bold declaration, he added,

“I am ready to die today; we need order in the party, and I am not afraid of anyone.”

The advisor framed his remarks as a fight for unity and for President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030.

“We will fight to ensure that President Mnangagwa remains in power until 2030 because it is good for the people,” he told supporters.

He also drew a parallel between current critics and fugitive war veteran Blessed Runesu Geza, whom he claimed to have openly challenged in the past.

“The same spirit of Geza is manifesting among some of us,” he cautioned.

While denying he named anyone, his comments have been broadly interpreted as aimed at businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei and, more recently, in response to prophecies by self-styled prophet Uebert Angel regarding party succession.

Amid this political fray, his daughter Tinotenda is steering public attention toward her entrepreneurial pursuits with Manhanha Clothing, attempting to channel online notoriety into a commercial brand launch.

Meanwhile, Paul Tungwarara has been recommended for co-option into the ZANU PF Central Committee by the Manicaland provincial leadership, signaling his entrenched role amid the ongoing internal debates.
