FC Platinum has made a statement in the transfer market ahead of the 2026 Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League season, unveiling a series of high-profile signings, including Namibian international Tjahikika Mbakondja and Malawian stalwart Maxwell Paipi.
The moves reflect the club’s ambition to reclaim domestic glory and make an impact on the continental stage following a sixth-place finish in the 2024–25 campaign.
Tjahikika Mbakondja, 25, arrives from African Stars FC, where he was the league’s top scorer and Player of the Season in 2024–25, netting 15 goals and providing seven assists.
His contributions helped African Stars secure both the Namibia Premier League title and the MTC Maris Cup. Mbakondja, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or centre-forward, previously had a two-year stint with South Africa’s Marumo Gallants but has now opted to bring his attacking flair to Zimbabwe’s top flight.
Joining Mbakondja is Malawian international Maxwell Paipi, who strengthens FC Platinum’s growing Flames contingent alongside Precious Phiri and Nickson Nyasulu.
Paipi, a versatile defender and midfielder, spent eight years at Silver Strikers in the Malawi Premier League, captaining both his club and the Malawian national team.
His domestic achievements include lifting the 2024 Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) Super League title and the 2025 FDH Bank Cup. Known for his leadership, tactical intelligence, and defensive solidity, Paipi brings experience and calmness to FC Platinum’s backline while offering flexibility in midfield.
With Mbakondja’s attacking dynamism and Paipi’s defensive leadership, FC Platinum’s new-look squad is positioned for a strong campaign in 2026.
The club’s strategy of blending seasoned internationals with local talent underscores its ambition to return to the summit of Zimbabwean football and compete fiercely on the African stage.
