Zimbabwe recorded over 1.38 million arrivals in the third quarter of 2025, driven by a significant rise in holidaymakers and business travellers.
The Third Quarter International Migration Report, released on Wednesday, revealed that holiday visits climbed from 217,651 in the same period last year to 256,143 an increase of nearly 18%.
The report provides data on the movement of both Zimbabwean nationals and foreign visitors entering the country via official border posts between July and September 2025.
Returning residents made up the bulk of arrivals, accounting for 62% of the total during the quarter.
Visitor numbers from outside Zimbabwe rose to 520,751 during the period, up from 454,043 in the same quarter in 2024 marking a a significant increase.
Meanwhile, 860,803 Zimbabwean residents returned home from abroad, compared with 791,104 in the same quarter last year, reflecting an 8.7% rise.
Most arrivals came by road, with air and rail also used. Road transport remained the dominant mode of travel, accounting for nearly 65% of total entries.
Air arrivals, however, showed notable growth, with 182,289 people flying into Zimbabwe a 43% rise from 127,529 in third quarter of 2024.
Among air travellers, 63% entered through Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, followed by Victoria Falls Airport (32%) and Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport (6%).
Road arrivals stood at 338,269 up from 326,348 in the same period last year. The busiest land ports of entry were Beitbridge (75,116), Forbes (66,761), and Victoria Falls Road (64,064).
However, educational travel saw a sharp decline. Only 2,438 visitors entered Zimbabwe for educational purposes in Q3 2025, down 76% from 10,237 in Q3 2024.
