Six Makokoba Residents Arrested in Bulawayo Drug Bust

BULAWAYO – Six people were arrested in Makokoba on 10 November 2025 following a drug bust that uncovered illegal dagga and large quantities of cough syrup.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the arrest of Aurther Moyo (27), Sydney Moyo (22), Zibusiso Tshuma (19), Lloyd Moyo (22), Nqobani Moyo (16) and Sindiso Moyo (17) for unlawful possession of dangerous drugs.

In a statement it states that, detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID )Drugs and Narcotics Unit received a tip-off about a suspected drug peddling at a house in Makokoba.

“Upon searching the premises, 11 sachets of dagga were recovered including, a plastic bag with loose dagga, 181 bottles of Broncleer, and 26 bottles of Benylin cough syrup”, said the Deputy Press and Public Relations Officer, Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu.

“The total value of the cough syrups is estimated at US$600, while the dagga weighing 91 grams, has a street value of approximately US$25”,she added.

Authorities have urged communities to protect the health and well-being of children by fighting substance abuse.

“We urge the community of Bulawayo to help protect the mental and physical wellbeing of our children by fighting the scourge of drug peddling”.

All suspects are expected to appear in court soon as police intensify efforts to clamp down on drug abuse in urban communities.
