LONDON – Tottenham Hotspur have swiftly identified Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye as their leading transfer target for the January window, after their pursuit of Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers was effectively ended by the forward signing a new long-term contract.
Spurs had been monitoring Rogers as a key offensive reinforcement, but the 21-year-old’s commitment to Villa until 2031 has forced the North London club to pivot their strategy.
According to club insiders, 25-year-old Senegalese international Ndiaye has now risen to the top of Manager Ange Postecoglou’s wish list. A source close to the club confirmed the heightened interest, stating,
“We anticipated this scenario with Rogers and began due diligence on alternatives weeks ago. Ndiaye is a dynamic alternative who fits the manager’s tactical blueprint perfectly. He offers the versatility, creativity, and directness we are looking to add to our attack.”
Ndiaye, who joined Everton from Marseille in July 2024, has scored three goals and provided one assist in nine Premier League appearances this season, growing into a consistent starter under manager Sean Dyche.
His impressive form has not gone unnoticed across Europe, with clubs including Newcastle United, Juventus, AC Milan, and Atletico Madrid also reportedly keeping tabs on the winger.
A football analyst close to the situation told Zim GBC News,
“Ndiaye’s profile is very attractive. He’s at a good age, has proven himself in the Championship with Sheffield United, and is now adapting well to the Premier League. His ability to play across the front line makes him a valuable asset, and Tottenham are wise to move early to avoid a bidding war.”
Tottenham is now preparing a formal bid to secure Ndiaye’s signature when the transfer window reopens, aiming to bolster their squad early in the second half of the season.
