Bulawayo – A bar dispute over beer has landed a police officer in court after he allegedly assaulted a fellow patron with a beer bottle at Millenium Bar in Ross Camp on 7 October 2025.
Wiseman Musaka (32), a serving member of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) stationed at ZRP Tshabalala, appeared before the Tredgold Magistrate Court after he allegedly attacked Fannel Chiremba (41), an employee of ZETDC residing in Kuwadzana, Harare, during a heated exchange around 6PM.
According to court case, the two were drinking together when a misunderstanding over beer turned violent. Musaka reportedly used an empty beer bottle to strike Chiremba several times on the face and head.
“The complainant sustained deep head and facial lacerations and was treated at United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) the following day, with a medical report that was produced in court”.
As this case unfolds,
- It underscores how alcohol fueled disagreements can escalate into serious physical confrontations, especially in public drinking spaces.
- It emphasizes the importance of emotional control and non-violent ways to resolve disagreements.
Musaka faces a charge of assault as defined under Section 89 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23]. He has been remanded in custody with further pending court proceedings.
