Bulawayo – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have launched a manhunt for a lone suspect linked to at least 17 cases of unlawful entry and theft committed in the eastern suburbs of Bulawayo between October 2024 and October 2025.

According to the statement, the suspect has been targeting residential properties and is often caught on Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) carrying a bolt cutter used to break into homes.

“In each case, the thief steals cash and valuables such as laptops and cellphones, which are later found dumped outside the victims’ properties suggesting the suspect is primarily interested in cash”, said the Deputy Press and Public Relations Officer, Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu.

In the statement it further states that, law enforcement agencies have since intensified security patrols in the affected areas, employing foot patrols, motorised units, and police dogs to help locate the offender and prevent further break-ins.

Residents are being urged to tighten security around their homes, stay alert, and report any suspicious activity.

“Residents are encouraged to tighten security measures at their homes, remain vigilant, and promptly report any suspicious persons or activities within their neighbourhood”.

The police are also appealing to the public for any information that may help identify or apprehend the suspect. Tip-offs can be directed to the nearest police station or Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Hillside on 0292-242359.

As this case unfolds, it exposes vulnerabilities in home security systems and the need for improved safety measures.
