‎The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has officially announced a vacancy for the position of Head Coach for the Zimbabwe National Men’s Football Team, The Warriors.

‎ The new coach will be tasked with leading the team towards competitive excellence in regional and international tournaments, including COSAFA, AFCON, and FIFA competitions.

‎According to the notice, the successful candidate will be based in Harare but must be ready for extensive regional and international travel.

‎The role is fixed-term and performance-based, with the coach reporting to the ZIFA President and Executive Committee through the General Secretary and Technical & Development Committee. The deadline for applications is 30 October 2025.

‎Driving Vision and Responsibilities

‎ZIFA stated that the new head coach will be responsible for developing and executing a modern, data-driven football strategy aligned with the country’s National Football Development Strategy.

‎ The duties include leading technical and tactical planning, scouting players based on merit, managing the technical team, and ensuring discipline and professionalism within the squad.

‎The coach will also work closely with the Technical Department to support youth development and talent identification, ensuring that the Warriors’ long-term success is grounded in local talent.

‎ “We are looking for a results-oriented leader who can inspire excellence, discipline, and national pride,” read part of the statement.

‎Qualifications and Experience

‎Candidates must hold a CAF Pro Licence or UEFA Pro Licence (or an equivalent internationally recognized qualification). Additional academic qualifications in Sports Science, Coaching, or Football Management will be considered an advantage.

‎Applicants should have at least five years of professional coaching experience at national or top-tier club level, with a proven record of success in high-pressure environments. Experience in African competitions such as AFCON, COSAFA, or CAF club tournaments is required.

‎The ideal candidate must demonstrate advanced tactical knowledge, leadership ability, strong communication skills, and the capacity to work effectively in multicultural environments.

‎Competitive Offer and Application Process

‎ZIFA promises a competitive, performance-based remuneration package that matches the coach’s experience and qualifications.

‎Interested applicants are required to submit a single PDF document containing a detailed CV, a cover letter outlining their coaching philosophy, certified copies of qualifications, references, and details of salary expectations and availability.

‎Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, and ZIFA reserves the right not to make an appointment.

‎The announcement comes shortly after ZIFA bid farewell to outgoing coach Michael Nees, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Warriors as they prepare for upcoming regional and continental fixtures.
