The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has officially announced the fee structure for replacing lost or damaged Ordinary and Advanced Level certificates, providing crucial clarity for former students requiring certified proof of qualifications for employment and further studies.
In a statement released today, ZIMSEC confirmed that replacement certificates will cost US$85 for Ordinary Level and US$95 for Advanced Level. The council also indicated an additional US$10 search fee for applicants who cannot provide their original candidate or centre numbers.
A ZIMSEC public relations officer outlined the application process, stating:
“Applications are made through the website or at your nearest ZIMSEC office.”
The council directed all applicants to their official portal, www.zimsec.co.zw, for detailed instructions and the online application system.
The fee confirmation comes as welcome news to thousands of Zimbabweans both locally and in the diaspora who have long sought a clear pathway to replacing essential educational documents. These certificates are often mandatory requirements for university admissions abroad, visa applications, and formal employment processes.
“Having a standardized fee structure and clear application guidelines will significantly streamline the process for applicants who have lost their certificates due to relocation, natural disasters, or other circumstances,” the ZIMSEC representative added.
The council has provided a step-by-step application guide, emphasizing the importance of having personal identification documents ready and using official payment channels. While processing timelines were not specified, applicants are advised to keep reference numbers for tracking purposes and can make enquiries through the contact numbers 0242 304551-2.
This announcement ends months of speculation and provides a formal mechanism for former students to obtain certified replacements of their crucial educational credentials.
