Nkulumane in Mourning: Constituency Loses MP Desire Moyo in Tragic Accident

NKULUMANE – The community of Nkulumane and the nation at large have been plunged into mourning following the tragic and untimely death of their Member of Parliament, Honourable Desire Moyo.
Honourable Desire Moyo, affectionately known by his artistic name “Moyoxide,” was a multifaceted Zimbabwean figure who served as the Member of Parliament for Nkulumane Constituency. A first-term MP, he brought to politics a rich background as a former teacher and an acclaimed poet.
Tragically, his life and promising political career were cut short on the eve of his 46th birthday, in a car accident near Shangani on October 10, 2025. He was confirmed dead at the scene. His passing cut short the celebration of a life dedicated to education, the arts, and public service, leaving a profound legacy in both the cultural and political landscapes of his community.
According to a press statement released by his office on Friday, 10th October 2025, Hon. Moyo lost his life in a car accident in the early hours of the morning. The news has been met with profound shock and deep sorrow by constituents, colleagues, and friends.
The statement from the Office of the MP for Nkulumane Constituency read, in part:
“It is with deep sorrow and profound shock that we announce the untimely passing of Honourable Desire Moyo… We join the family, friends, and the people of Nkulumane in mourning this devastating loss.”
Details surrounding the accident are still emerging, with the office promising that
“further details will be shared in due course.”
The primary focus for now remains on supporting the bereaved family and a constituency grappling with the sudden loss of its elected representative.
Hon. Desire Moyo was the sitting Member of Parliament for Nkulumane Constituency. His tenure was marked by a commitment to his constituents, championing the slogan,
“Let’s Make Nkulumane Proud Again!”
His sudden death leaves a significant void in the political and community leadership of the area.
As tributes begin to pour in, the community remembers him as a dedicated public servant. The statement concluded with a simple, poignant plea:
“May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
The Office of the Member of Parliament has stated that all official communications will be handled through its Information and Publicity Desk as arrangements are made to honour his legacy and support his family during this difficult time.
