POLOKWANE – The trial of two men accused of murdering a woman and feeding her body to pigs resumed Monday at the Polokwane High Court, with the victim’s mother declaring she can never forgive the perpetrators.

Zachariah Johannes Olivier (60) and William Musora (50) face multiple charges including murder, attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and employing an undocumented worker. The alleged incident occurred in August 2024 at Onvervaght farm in Sebayeng, Limpopo, where Maria Mokgabo and Lucia Ndlovu were reportedly scavenging for food when they were shot and thrown into a pigsty. Ndlovu’s husband, Mabutho Ncube, survived the attack and is expected to testify.

In an emotional courtroom moment, Maria’s mother, Moyahabo Mokgabo, directly addressed the court.

“Why did he have to kill my child in such a brutal manner? Why did he not inform the police that people were trespassing on his farm?” she asked, her voice trembling with emotion.

Outside the courtroom, Mokgabo told reporters the tragedy has devastated her family both emotionally and financially.

“After they murdered my child, I am now struggling, as I do not work anywhere and am therefore unable to provide for my family. I cannot forgive them,” she said.

Musora, a Zimbabwean national, faces an additional charge for contravening the Immigration Act.

Charges against a third farmworker, Adrian de Wet (19), have been withdrawn, and he is now testifying as a state witness.

Presiding Judge Jane Ngobeni warned the accused that a murder conviction carries a possible life sentence, with a minimum of 15 years for first-time offenders.

The trial continues this week with Ncube expected to take the stand.
