HARARE – The Meteorological Services Department (MSD) has issued a weather advisory, forecasting isolated rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds across Zimbabwe from Monday, September 29, to Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
According to the MSD, the unsettled conditions are a result of moist air masses converging over southern Africa, creating atmospheric instability.
Provinces expected to be most affected include Manicaland, Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland East, Harare, and parts of the Midlands and Masvingo.
In its detailed advisory, the MSD stated:
“A cloud system is expected to enter the country from the west (Botswana) on the 29th of September 2025, bringing moisture over all Matabeleland and Bulawayo Metropolitan provinces.”
The department further explained,
“At the same time, a pressure rise over the South-East coast of South Africa will drive in moisture, bringing cloudy, windy and cool conditions over the southern provinces.”
Areas such as Beitbridge, Gwanda, Bulawayo, Plumtree, Chiredzi, and Chipinge are likely to experience isolated thunderstorms on Monday, with the activity spreading northeast on Tuesday. The MSD has forecast moderate rainfall exceeding 30mm in the southern provinces from September 29 to 30.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to exercise caution.
