BULAWAYO – A 35-year-old man from Lower Gweru has been arrested after police found him in possession of dagga worth US$23 500 following a tip-off.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the incident too place on Tuesday, 23 September at 7 AM. The Bulawayo Criminal Investigation Department(CID) Drugs and Narcotics unit received information that Valentine Bhebhe was in possession of dangerous drugs.
“He was in possession of the drugs at a car park near the Luveve and Masiyephambili intersection,” said the Deputy Press and Public Relations Officer, Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu.
Police set up a surveillance from a distance, observing a crowd of people gathered to collect parcels from a South Africa-registered Malayitsha mini-bus.
“They spotted Valentine receiving a sack which matched the description from the tip-off,” Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu added.
A search was conducted, leading to the discovery of 47 sachets of dagga weighing 23kg.
Authorities have warned the public and drug peddlers that the Bulawayo Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Drugs and Narcotics unit as well as the Arm of the law will catch up with them.
Valentine Bhebhe is expected to appear in court on Thursday, 25 September 2025.
