According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the victim was struck by an unknown motorist at around 9:06PM while walking barefoot along Robert Mugabe Way. He was wearing a black T-shirt and blue trousers at the time of the incident.
“The motorist fled the scene after the accident and the victim sustained head injuries and bruises on the chest and both knees”, said the Deputy Press and Public Relations Officer, Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu.
He was reportedly rushed to Mpilo Hospital where he later died from his injuries at around 6AM the following morning.

•Vulnerability of pedestrians,
especially at night pedestrians remain at high risk, particularly when walking without reflective clothing or proper footwear.
•Urban Traffic Risks, accidents occurring even in well-trafficked city areas show gaps in enforcement and public safety infrastructure.
Authorities have urged motorists to be alert, observe road rules, and stop to render assistance in the event of accidents. Pedestrians are also advised to wear reflective clothing, especially at night.
