Recent speculation on social media has put Zandile Dabula, the fiery leader of South Africa’s Operation Dudula, under intense scrutiny, with rumors suggesting she might have Zimbabwean roots. This allegation has ignited fierce debate, particularly given Operation Dudula’s hardline stance against undocumented immigrants in South Africa.

When confronted about these claims, Dabula brushed them off as mere “rumours” and chose not to comment further.

“Thank you for reaching out. I will not respond to rumours,” she said via WhatsApp before going silent, leaving many wondering about her true origins.

Operation Dudula has been at the center of heated debates in South Africa, criticized for allegedly fueling xenophobic attacks against nationals from countries like Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Tanzania.

The movement insists it’s targeting undocumented migrants and addressing perceived “foreign dominance” in South Africa’s informal economy.

Dabula’s refusal to clarify her origins fuels speculation and questions about her movement’s credibility.

Operation Dudula focuses on policing nationality and undocumented migrants.
Critics accuse the group of promoting xenophobia, which Dabula denies.

Dabula has criticized Zimbabweans for perceived “entitlement” regarding residency in South Africa.

In recent statements, Dabula hit back at Zanu PF spokesperson Farai Marapira’s remarks, insisting foreigners can’t dictate South Africa’s affairs. She emphasized South Africa’s right to govern itself according to its constitution and immigration laws.

There’s also been alarming reports of healthcare workers allegedly colluding with Operation Dudula to deny foreign nationals access to essential health services, sparking concerns about rights violations.

The speculation about Dabula’s nationality has led to mixed reactions on social media, with some seeing irony in Operation Dudula’s position if Dabula herself has Zimbabwean ties.

Critics like Zanu PF’s Farai Marapira accuse Operation Dudula of betraying ubuntu (humanity) and using colonial-era tactics to divide Africans.
