‎ ZIFA Addresses Orlando Stadium Incident, Urges Respect for Media‎

‎ The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has expressed deep regret over an incident involving national team player Tinotenda Kadewere and journalist Yvonne Mangunda during the Warriors’ media open training session at Orlando Stadium.

‎In a statement, ZIFA condemned any form of abuse towards journalists and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring media professionals can carry out their duties without fear or intimidation.

‎“ZIFA acknowledges and regrets the incident at Orlando Stadium involving a Warriors player and journalist Yvonne Mangunda. We value the media as vital partners in our game and will always ensure they can work without fear or intimidation,” the association said.

‎ZIFA confirmed that Kadewere has since apologised to Mangunda, with both parties reaching an amicable resolution. The association added that the matter is being addressed through internal disciplinary processes.

‎ “The player has apologised, an amicable resolution has been reached, and the matter is being handled internally. Together, let’s keep football a space of respect and unity,” ZIFA noted.

‎The football body further underscored its responsibility to maintain high standards of conduct within its teams and to foster respectful engagement with all stakeholders.

‎ “We take full responsibility for upholding the highest standards of conduct within our teams and reaffirm our commitment to respectful engagement with all stakeholders.”

‎ZIFA concluded by stressing the vital role of journalists in the game and calling for continued professionalism and mutual respect across all levels of football.

‎The Orlando Stadium incident has served as a reminder of the importance of safeguarding respect and professionalism in football.

‎By resolving the matter amicably and reinforcing its commitment to media freedom, ZIFA has signaled its determination to uphold integrity, unity, and accountability within the game.
