Boss Zonke hit maker Riky Rick who committed suicide last week Wednesday has been laid to rest.
Reports claim that he was bullied on the instant messaging platform Twitter after posting a video dancing with his wife and it is said Rick was not making his wife happy.
Riky Rick whose real names are Rikhado Muziwendlovu Chifaro Makhado was 34 years, and was widely popular for his hit songs, Boss Zonke, Sidlukotini, Ungazincitshi.
He was also celebrated for his fashion sense and setting fashion trends.
He was the owner of his own record label Cotton Club Records and he annually hosted a fashion “show”, the Cotton fest.
Ricky’s last tweeted on the 23rd February at 3 am in the morning saying;
“I’ll return a stronger man. This land is still my home.”
Social media is awash with suppositions that Riky Rick was sending a suicide message in that last tweet.
The Sunday World, a South African news paper, said Riky alleged hanged himself with a rope after suffering from severe depression.
A source who confirmed to the Sunday World said that the rap artist was found by his management team at his house at about 8.30 am on Wednesday and they rushed him to the nearby hospital as he was still alive however he died on the way.
Depression has been the leading cause of many celebrities’ deaths this year.
A month ago, another South African Legendary Actor Patrick Shai committed suicide after being bullied on social media.
Rick’s funeral and burial took place yesterday in Johannesburg.
His family and close friends gathered for his send off in an intimate burial service.
His wife Bianca Naidoo paid a tribute to his husband saying that his love was honest, authentic and transcendent for her.
She also added that she was grateful for the time they spent together and was honoured to be loved by him.
His mother Louisa Zondo also poured out her feelings towards the passing of her son.
“My Riky, words no longer have any relevance. There is nothing to be said at this point because my Riky you are no longer this or that, you are my everything….We will carry on your legacy, may it be well with you my son. Lala ngoxolo mtanami.”
Present were his brother and business partners who poured out their grief towards the passing of their beloved.
Riky was cremated.
A memorial service will be held and streamed live on the 4th of March at 10am.
