Italian Serie A side AS Roma coach Jose Mourinho has been banned for two matches.

The ban came after the Roma boss moved on to the pitch and argued with the referee Luca Pairetto before he emotionally kicked the match ball into the crowd.

Roma drew 2-2 against Verona.

Mourinho left the Stadio Olimpico without stopping for his post-match media conference as per requirement.

The Italian Football Federation stated that Mourinho made serious allegations against Pairetto, and entered the pitch with a threatening attitude.

The Portuguese manager was fined €20, 000.

A similar incident happened last week to local side FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza, in a Castle Larger Premier Soccer League match against Bulawayo Chiefs at Luveve Stadium.

The gaffer was shown a red card by referee Philani Ncube for remonstration in the first half after Petros Mhari received a caution for a foul on Obriel Chirinda outside the box.

No fine was demanded from the FC Platinum boss.

During the 2021 AFCON tournament in Cameroon, Egyptian coach Carlos Queiroz missed the final after he was sent off by the Gambian referee during the semi final match against Cameroon. Queiroz was red-carded for persistent bickering from the touchline, he seemed agitated from the start of the game.

After the match he said that the referee, Bakary Gassama, had intimidated his side from even before the start of the match but the Gambian official was commended by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for his handling of the game.

The red card saw Queiroz banned for two games and as a result he missed the final in which his side lost to Senegal by 4-2 in penalty shootout.

Tennis Player Suffers Consequences For Misbehaviour

German Tennis Star Alexander Zverev has been thrown out from participating in the Mexican Open after he remonstrated against the umpire’s decisions.

World number 3 Zverev argued with the umpire during the decisive tie-break as he and Marcelo Melo (his doubles partner) lost 6-2 4-6 10-6 to Lloyd Glasspool and Harri Heliovaara on Tuesday evening in Acapulco in Mexico.

Zverev believed a ball was incorrectly called out during the tie-break and began yelling at the umpire, with the crowd taking the official’s side.

The German star disapproved this decision by striking umpire’s chair several times with his racket.

He hit the umpire’s chair about three times coming close to hitting the umpire’s foot. Zverev continued yelling at the umpire.

This has been described as an “unsportsmanlike conduct”.

Investigations are still to be carried out concerning the matter.
