AKURE, NIGERIA – A 42-year-old pastor, Samson Ajayi, has been remanded in custody after confessing to the repeated rape of his 17-year-old biological daughter over a four-year period. The shocking case was heard at a Magistrate’s Court in Akure, Ondo State.
Ajayi, who attributed his actions to a “generational curse,” reportedly committed the offences at the family home in the Igoba area. The crime was uncovered after the victim’s mother noticed signs of abuse and confronted her daughter, who then disclosed the prolonged ordeal.
According to the police prosecutor, the offences of rape and defilement occurred between March 2021 and August 2025. Ajayi was arrested at a prayer mountain following a report made by his wife.
During the court hearing before Magistrate Taiwo Lebi, the accused made a stunning confession.
“I eventually did it, but I didn’t know what came over me,” Ajayi stated.
“I think it’s a generational curse because my father also did it to my sister, his biological daughter. It was just an act to disgrace me.”
The defence lawyer requested an out-of-court settlement, informing the court that the victim’s mother had forgiven her husband. However, Magistrate Lebi firmly rejected the request, emphasising the gravity of the charges.
The magistrate ordered that Ajayi be held at the Olokuta Correctional Centre pending further advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The case has been adjourned until November 20 for mention
