Chiwenga Renews Attack on Chivayo’s “Free Car” Gifts, Vows Crackdown

Political Correspondent

HARARE – Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has launched a fresh salvo against controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo, declaring an end to the era of “free luxury cars” distributed by tenderpreneurs as Zimbabwe intensifies its anti-corruption fight.

Speaking at an Anti-Drug Abuse Campaign in Highfields, Chiwenga drew thunderous applause when he contrasted youth suffering with illicit wealth displays:

“While young people perish from drugs, others are promised:

‘I’ll give you a car tomorrow free of charge.’ This spectacle ends now.”

Key Revelations:

  1. “Chigananda” Target: Though unnamed, Chivayo remains the clear subject of Chiwenga’s repeated critiques of those amassing “untraceable wealth.”
  2. National Security Threat: The VP reiterated that corruption drains US$2 billion annually through illicit deals and mineral smuggling.
  3. Institutional Allies: Chiwenga empowered teachers as “fountains of knowledge” in combating youth drug abuse.

Deepening Conflict:

This marks Chiwenga’s third public rebuke of Chivayo’s vehicle giveaway spree – including luxury cars gifted to celebrities and politicians. Analysts see this as signaling imminent high-profile arrests.

“When a sitting VP repeatedly calls out specific corruption models, enforcement follows,” stated political commentator Rutendo Chigudu.

Church Backing:

Congregants at New Highfields Roman Catholic Church endorsed the crackdown, shouting support as Chiwenga vowed systemic change.

“Our economy bleeds while showmen exploit state ties. The VP’s message resonates deeply,” remarked parishioner Tinashe Moyo.
