The bail conditions given to a habitual criminal could not deter him from committing another crime.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has arrested Leeroy Lovejoy Mafu (24) who is out of custody on bail for murder charges after he robbed another man.
On Sunday morning Mafu who hails from Mpopoma Suburb in Bulawayo stole from a man (name withheld) US10,00 and a Hisense Y Cellphone.
The stolen items have a total value of USD$70.
Ironically, according to Press and Public Relations officer Inspector Abednico, that the victim who was robbed is a witness to the murder case which was committed by Mafu.
The case is pending trial at the courts thus Mafu is currently out on bail. The murder case is under the jurisdiction of Western Commonage Magistrate Courts.
Seemingly the two are known to each other as circumstances to the robbery are that on the day Mafu went in search of his would be victim, and on getting wind that Mafu was looking do him, the would be victim voluntarily went to see Mafu at his house.
Mafu took this opportunity to attack the his victim who has since become a complainant in the robbery case.
Mafu is said to have grabbed his victim by the neck and dragged him inside the house. Mafu threatened his victim not to stand against him in the murder case of which he is out in bail.
The victim is a key witness to the murder case that is before the courts.
Mafu is said to have produced an Okapi knife and hit the state witness on the right knee with the knife. The victim did not sustain any visible injuries. Mafu is reported to have searched his victim and took US$10,00 and a Hisense Y mobile phone before chasing him away from the premises like a dog.
Insp. Ncube states that the matter was reported to the police on the same day. Mafu was arrested. Nothing was recovered and investigations are underway.
