Bulawayo – The Bulawayo City Council (BCC) is grappling with a major internet outage that has severely disrupted its online services since Monday, 14 July 2025. The technical fault has left residents and businesses unable to access critical digital platforms, including the council’s email system, Customer Contact Centre, and official website.

In a statement, Town Clerk Mr. Christopher Dube acknowledged the disruption, stating,

“The City of Bulawayo would like to advise the public of an internet service system fault affecting business operations. We understand the inconvenience caused and are working to resolve the issue urgently.”

The outage has hampered communication between the council and residents, delaying responses to inquiries and service requests. The Customer Contact Centre, a key support channel, has been particularly affected, leaving many citizens without immediate assistance.

Mr. Dube assured the public that restoration efforts were underway, adding,

“Reliable internet service is crucial for effective service delivery, and our technical teams are addressing the fault as a priority. We anticipate full restoration by Saturday, 19 July 2025.”

The incident underscores the growing reliance on digital infrastructure in municipal operations. Experts warn that such disruptions highlight the need for robust backup systems to minimise downtime and maintain service continuity.

For now, residents are encouraged to use alternative channels for urgent matters while the council works to restore connectivity.
