Bulawayo Man Charged with TV Theft, WhatsApp Sale; Masvingo Man Loses Teeth in Brawl Over Sex Worker

Crimes and Courts

Bulawayo & Masvingo, Zimbabwe – Two separate cases of violent crime and theft landed suspects in court this week, highlighting ongoing challenges with property crime and assault.

Bulawayo Man Charged with TV Theft, WhatsApp Sale

Jordan Ncube (31) of Njube appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mr. Archie Wochiwunga on charges of unlawful entry.

The State, represented by prosecutor Ms. Audrey Kufandikanwe, alleges that on June 18, Ncube and accomplice Mncedisi (still at large) broke into Ms. Isabel Moyo’s Entumbane home.

The duo reportedly forced open a padlock, stealing a 43-inch Luxuco plasma TV and an OpenView decoder.

Shockingly, Ncube allegedly advertised the TV on WhatsApp the next day, selling it for US$130 to Wellington Mthunzi.

“Police tracked the sale, leading to Ncube’s arrest and recovery of the TV,” stated investigating officer Sergeant Tapiwa Nyoni.

“The decoder remains missing, and we urge the public to help locate Mncedisi.”

Ncube was remanded in custody until July 23.

Masvingo Man Loses Teeth in Brawl Over Sex Worker

In a separate incident, Albert Mushuma (22) appeared before Masvingo Magistrate Arafat Kozanai charged with attempted murder.

Prosecutors allege Mushuma stabbed Bothwell Wushe in the mouth during a dispute over a sex worker, Blessing Hawu, at Manyama Business Centre on June 6.

According to witnesses, Wushe approached Hawu, who refused his advances. Mushuma and an accomplice arrived, leading to a confrontation where Mushuma allegedly stabbed Wushe’s lower lip, causing him to lose two front teeth.

“Violence is never the solution,” emphasized Masvingo police spokesperson Inspector Lorraine Ndlovu.

“We’re searching for the second suspect and urge community restraint.”

Mushuma remains in custody pending trial.
