Limpopo Woman Arrested for Scamming 8 Men with Same Child Support Scheme

South African Correspondent

Johannesburg, South Africa – A 35-year-old Limpopo woman has been arrested for allegedly defrauding eight different men into paying child support for the same child over a 12-year period, police confirmed.

Nancy Mudau, Limpopo, reportedly convinced each man that he was the biological father of her child, collecting monthly payments that funded school fees, clothing, and other expenses. Authorities say the scheme enabled her to build a luxurious house and begin constructing a tavern.

How the Scam Unfolded

According to SAPS spokesperson:

“The suspect maintained separate relationships with each complainant, providing them with falsified paternity documents when questioned. The men only discovered the truth when some began comparing notes.”

The elaborate scam collapsed after one of the fathers grew suspicious and requested a DNA test, which revealed he was not the child’s biological parent. Further investigations exposed the multi-year deception.

Legal Consequences

Mudau faces charges of fraud and misrepresentation. If convicted, she could face significant jail time under South Africa’s fraud laws.

“This is one of the most brazen child support scams we’ve seen,” said a family law expert.

“It exploits both the men involved and the child at the center of this deception.”

What’s Next?

  • Police are determining whether the child’s true biological father was aware of the scheme.
  • Investigators are tracing the misused funds to assess potential restitution for the victims.
