Inkaba Culture Festival Brings Zimbabwean Heritage to the UK

The Inkaba Culture Festival is set to electrify the UK cities of London and Birmingham this August, bringing live music, dance, and poetry to new audiences.

Headlined by renowned Zimbabwean poet, musician, writer, actor, and philanthropist Albert Nyathi, the festival promises to be a vibrant showcase of African traditions.

The name “Inkaba” symbolizes the umbilical cord that connects the African child to their African roots. According to Albert Nyathi,

“The show will also connect people to their roots. The festival aims to promote cultural exchange, education, and appreciation, introducing audiences to the rich dynamics of Zimbabwe and its people”.

The Inkaba Culture Festival will feature:

  • Live music and activities in London on August 3, 2025, from 2 pm to 9 pm at Adams Road, with performances by Albert Nyathi, Progress Chipfumo, and more.
  • A family-friendly event in Birmingham on August 9, 2025, from 4 pm to 9 pm at 8 Health Field Road, featuring acts like Dr. Queen Patience, Busi Mhlanga, Matongande, and more.
  • Traditional Zimbabwean food, including amacimbi and mfutshwa.
  • Exclusive performances at universities, including the University of Greenwich, to bridge cultural dialogue with younger audiences

The Inkaba Culture Festival invites families, cultural lovers, and curious minds to come together for an unforgettable showcase of African music, dance, and poetry. From high-energy performances to immersive storytelling, the festival offers a vibrant window into the richness of African traditions.

Albert Nyathi is a celebrated Zimbabwean poet, musician, writer, actor, and philanthropist known for his powerful poetry and music, often incorporating traditional Zimbabwean themes and languages, particularly Ndebele. Some of his notable works include the yesteryear poem and hit song “Senzeni Na”.

He won the Zimbabwean National Poetry Award in 1995 and has inspired young poets and artists in Zimbabwe and beyond.
