Tensions Escalate After Israel-Iran War Enters Sixth Day
Zim GBC News Reporter
WASHINGTON – U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, declaring that the U.S. knows his location and could target him, while demanding Iran’s “unconditional surrender” as the Israel-Iran conflict intensifies.
In a series of provocative posts on Truth Social, Trump escalated his rhetoric, signaling that the U.S. may soon join the conflict directly.
“We know where you’re hiding,” Trump wrote, addressing Khamenei.
“He is an easy target, but is safe there—we are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now. But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin.”
U.S. Considers Military Intervention
The White House has maintained that recent troop and warship deployments to the Middle East are for “defensive” purposes.
However, sources told The New York Times that Trump is actively considering preemptive strikes, including potential attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
“I may do it, I may not do it,” Trump told reporters on Wednesday.
“Nobody knows what I’m going to do. But Iran’s got a lot of trouble.”
One option under discussion is the use of U.S. “bunker buster” bombs to target Fordow, Iran’s underground nuclear site. Trump reportedly authorized coordination between U.S. Central Command and Israel earlier this year to refine plans for disabling Iran’s nuclear program.
Khamenei Fires Back: “Iran Will Never Surrender”
Iran’s Supreme Leader dismissed Trump’s threats, vowing defiance.
“The U.S. President demands that the Iranian people surrender to him,” Khamenei said in a televised address.
“They should make threats against those who are afraid. The Iranian nation isn’t frightened.”
He warned that U.S. involvement would backfire:
“If America enters this war, it will suffer far greater harm than Iran.”
Diplomatic Efforts Collapse as Tensions Soar
Trump initially suggested he could broker a deal to end the conflict, posting on Saturday:
“We can easily get a deal done between Iran and Israel.”
But by Monday, his tone hardened after leaving the G7 summit early, declaring he was “not too much in the mood to negotiate.”
His abrupt shift came as Iran accused the U.S. of complicity in Israel’s attacks.
“This strike could not have happened without U.S. approval,” Iran’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Lawmakers Express Alarm Over Potential War Powers Move
Some U.S. lawmakers have raised concerns about Trump bypassing Congress for military action. Vice President J.D. Vance suggested Trump has broad authority, stating on X:
“The decision ultimately belongs to the president.”
Meanwhile, Trump shared a message from U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee comparing the situation to Harry Truman’s atomic bomb decision in 1945.
“I trust your instincts,” Huckabee wrote.
Risk of Wider War Grows
Analysts warn that U.S. strikes could push Iran toward pursuing nuclear weapons.
“The incentive would multiply dramatically if America joins the war,” said Rosemary Kelanic of Defense Priorities.
As Iran reportedly prepares missile strikes on U.S. bases in retaliation, the region braces for further escalation.
For now, Trump’s threats hang over Tehran—with the world waiting to see if his next move will be words or war.
