Five men from Rangemore Suburb have landed themselves in trouble with the law after a man died in their hands.

Police Spokesperson for Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the death of Waitor Moyo after he was assaulted by the five men.

Tawanda Mhazo (23) ,Erick Moyo (25), Rusher Jimela (65), Lovington Sibanda (64) and Garikai Mhazo (53) were arrested for murder which took place in Upper Rangemore in Mguza district.

On Wednesday in the early hours of the morning around 2am Tawanda Mhazo was awakened from his sleep by a loud banging sound.

In trying to investigate the source of the noise Mhazo went out and saw Waitor Moyo who was clad in his birthday suit trying to break down a door using a hoe.

Moyo fled from the scene when he noticed that he had been seen.

Acting like a possessed mad man, Moyo went back to Mhazo’s residence, this time armed with an axe. He started chopping down the door.

Mhazo screamed for help from his neighbours who woke up and assisted Mhazo to subdue Moyo.

Instant justice was then meted on Moyo whom they assulted using sticks and other weapons all over his body after which they took him to the police.

Moyo who had been brutally assulted was battling for his life thus an ambulance was called to ferry him to Mpilo Central Hospital.

He lost the battle unfortunately around 5am and died due to injuries sustained.

Mhazo took the opportunity to report a case of malicious damage to his property.

Insp. Ncube has urged members of the public to desist from taking the law into their own hands.
