Chicken Inn’s assistant coach, Fungai Kwashi, remains optimistic that the team will soon overcome their scoring woes, despite a disappointing start to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.
The Gamecocks have managed just three goals in their opening ten league matches, leaving them languishing in 12th place with only nine points—just two above the relegation zone.
Their struggles were further highlighted in their latest home fixture, a 1-0 defeat to newly promoted Mwos.
Kwashi acknowledged the team’s difficulties in front of goal but emphasized their commitment to turning things around.
“We know we’ve struggled to find the back of the net, but we’re putting in the work every day,” Kwashi said.
“With continued focus and effort, the goals will come.”
So far this season, Chicken Inn have recorded just one win, six draws, and three losses. Their inability to convert chances has raised concerns among supporters, but Kwashi urged patience, insisting that the team is working hard to correct their shortcomings.
“All we can do is look forward, keep working hard, and continue finding solutions to achieve our goals,” he said.
“In situations like this, it’s crucial to be mindful of our words. But one thing is certain: we’ve been putting in the effort every single day to reach our objectives.”
The Gamecocks will have an opportunity to bounce back when they face struggling Kwekwe United on Saturday, May 10. A positive result could provide much-needed momentum as they seek to climb the league table.
