In a heated exchange on social media, Sonja Madzikanda, the ex-wife of controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo, has responded sharply after Chivayo attributed the breakdown of their marriage to her inability to get along with his late mother and siblings.
The couple, who parted ways after seven years of marriage and share two children, have been at the center of public attention, particularly after Chivayo recently flaunted his new girlfriend, Lulu Muteke, whom he plans to marry next year. In a social media post, Chivayo stated,
“Leaving my ex-wife was undoubtedly one of the MOST DIFFICULT decisions I have ever had to make… Our marriage faced IRRECONCILABLE differences that made it impossible to continue.”
Chivayo expressed his ongoing commitment to his children and claimed to have sponsored Sonja and the kids’ vacation to Vietnam and Japan, spending R2 million in the process. He also mentioned giving Sonja $100,000 for shopping and to share with her family.
“Despite these challenges, she remains a GREAT mother and a good person,” he added.
However, Sonja did not hold back in her rebuttal, criticizing Chivayo for his public declarations and “making noise on the internet.” In a series of Instagram stories, she stated,
“I don’t care who you marry. Marry and move on… Respect your business partners, respect the offices you go in. Why are you always making noise on the internet? Aren’t you supposed to at church? Aren’t you supposed to be at kuMasowe?”
The back-and-forth between the former couple has reignited public interest in their tumultuous relationship, with both sides seemingly unwilling to let go of past grievances. Sonja’s comments highlight her frustration with Chivayo’s public persona, while he continues to assert his dedication to co-parenting and providing for their children.
As the drama unfolds, it appears that the social media spotlight will remain on this high-profile former couple and their ongoing dispute.
