The repatriation process of the late National hero and former Vice-President, Report Phelekezela Mphoko’s body from India to Zimbabwe has begun, with the government aiming to expedite the process.
Mphoko, 84, passed away on Friday in India, where he had traveled two weeks prior for medical treatment.
According to Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Professor Amon Murwira, the government is working closely with the Mphoko family and embassy staff to ensure a swift repatriation.
“It is sad that we lost our national hero. The Government has put all its focus on the repatriation process of the late Cde Mphoko. We are working with the family and our embassy staff to ensure that the process is completed as soon as possible and the repatriation is done,” said Prof Murwira.
