The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has announced updated fuel prices effective December 5, 2024, revealing a slight decrease in petrol prices alongside a minor increase in diesel prices compared to November.
According to ZERA, the price of diesel has increased to a maximum of US$1.54 per litre, up $0.02 from last month’s price of US$1.52 per litre.
In Zimbabwean dollars, the maximum price for diesel is set at 39.34 ZWG per litre.
“The price adjustment reflects market conditions based on M-1,” ZERA stated in its official notice.
For petrol users, there is some relief with the price of blended petrol (E20) now costing a maximum of US$1.48 per litre, a decrease of $0.03 from November’s price of US$1.51 per litre.
The maximum price in Zimbabwean dollars is 37.85 ZWG per litre.
“The blending ratio remains at E20,” ZERA clarified.
ZERA emphasized that operators may sell fuel below these prescribed prices depending on their trading advantages.
“All fuel stations must display their prices prominently as per regulations,” the authority noted.
In their statement released on December 5, ZERA detailed the new prices as follows:
- Diesel 50: Maximum Price of 39.34 ZWG/Litre or US$1.54/Litre
- Blend E20: Maximum Price of 37.85 ZWG/Litre or US$1.48/Litre
These prices are set to remain effective until January 4, 2025.
ZERA also urged the public and stakeholders to verify petroleum prices through its official platforms, stating,
“Petroleum price releases by ZERA can be verified on the official ZERA website, Facebook, or Twitter handle.”
As consumers adjust to the new pricing structure, ZERA’s updates underscore the dynamic nature of fuel pricing in Zimbabwe amid fluctuating market conditions.
