HARARE – A company in Vinona, Borrowdale, was the target of a brazen armed robbery on November 29, 2024, resulting in a loss of over US$36,000.
The incident occurred around 2:15 AM, when three unidentified male suspects, armed with pistols, attacked a security guard on duty.
According to National Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, the suspects broke into the company offices and made off with US$36,260 in cash, along with two laptops and a Bluetooth speaker.
“Police in Borrowdale are investigating a case of robbery which occurred at a company in Vainona,” Mathe confirmed.
“The suspects were armed and posed a significant threat to the security personnel.”
The police are urging anyone with information about the robbery to come forward and report to the nearest police station.
The incident has raised concerns about security in the area, as armed robberies have become increasingly common.
In a separate incident, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) reported a tragic event that occurred in Matiashe Village, Chimanimani, on November 27, 2024.
A 6-year-old girl died after accidentally coming into contact with her grandmother, who was carrying a bucket of hot water. The child fell, causing the hot water to spill over her, resulting in severe burns.
The young victim was rushed to Beitbridge Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries on November 28, while receiving treatment.
This heartbreaking incident highlights the dangers present in everyday life and the need for increased awareness regarding safety, especially around hot liquids.
As investigations continue into both incidents, the community remains on alert, hoping for swift justice and improved safety measures.
