Harare, – A man who suffered memory loss following a road traffic accident has been successfully identified after a public appeal by Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.
The hospital had previously reported that the man was admitted without any identification, leaving his identity and details of the incident unknown.
In a statement released earlier, the hospital explained that the victim was brought in by police but was unable to recall any information about himself or the circumstances surrounding the accident.
“We were deeply concerned for his well-being and wanted to ensure he could be reunited with his family,” a hospital spokesperson said.
On Thursday, November 28, the hospital announced that they had located the man’s relatives, expressing gratitude to the community for their assistance.
“Following our notice on November 26, we would like to thank members of the public who participated in the search for the identity of this unknown patient,” the statement read.
“We are glad to inform you that we have found his relatives, and we appreciate everyone who helped spread the word.”
The hospital’s appeal resonated with the public, highlighting the importance of community involvement in such situations.
“It’s heartwarming to see how people came together to help someone in need,” the spokesperson added.
The victim’s family expressed their relief upon being reunited with him.
“We were worried sick about him. It’s a huge relief to know he is safe and receiving care,” a relative stated.
The hospital continues to provide medical support as the man recovers from his injuries.
